Short Sweet Shock

3 Original Plays & Howard Barker’s Possibilities

Do you want to have an exciting evening? Care to see what your fellow students have come up with?

'Short Sweet Shock' presents New Writing produced by the University’s first Undergraduate playwriting class, Writing for Theatre. Three short plays, each thirty minutes in length, have been selected and intensively work shopped within and outside of the university.

These plays will be linked with performances from Howard Barker’s Possibilities to generate an evening of short, sweet shocks performed at Summerhall from the 21st - 24th March.

---

Smiles & Teeth - written by Rosanna Hall

A modern day morality play set in Edinburgh. A young girl and a
middle-aged man struggle to retain their identity and their principles
in the face of desire and greed.

---

Quite a Crowd - written by David Gareth Stewart

Enter the quick of the mind and make sense of what Jack, Jackie,
Jacko, he, she, it really is. "Since each of us was several, there was
already quite a crowd."

---

Defunct Pig - written by Justyna Mytnik

A political comedy that examines the line between absurdity and fear.
Are you more scared of a brownie or a pig? Warning: strangers may
cause paranoia. Oink oink.
