Founded in 1989, Edinburgh University Footlights is a student-run musical theatre group that aims to annually present the largest scale production of the University's theatrical calendar. Over the years, Footlights has gone from strength to strength, with The Edinburgh Evening News dubbing the society "one of the most respected theatre groups in Britain".
Footlights aims to give its entire cast and crew as professional an experience as possible while providing an accessible and affordable performance for the student body as well as the Edinburgh community at large. Footlights' founders identified a gap in the creative output of student theatre at Edinburgh University and a need for a society specifically geared towards performing modern, full scale musicals.
